Operation Pro Week 1 Check-In

It's the end of the first of twenty weeks of prep for Team Universe! This week went by quickly, and things are going well so far. Check out the video - I talk about how I'm feeling, what my diet is like, and how I expect to be feeling by the end of the weekend.

    I'm not competing anytime soon, but I am currently on a low-carb diet (ketosis) and have been researching cyclical ketogenic diets lately, so I know what you're going through (or how you're feeling, at least!) Once I switched to fat burning, I have felt AMAZING! Not only has my energy returned, but I just feel a bit euphoric and my appetite is suppressed (thank, God! ha!) and I'm just really enjoying eating whole, satisfying foods. I'm definitely interested in following your ketogenic prep-diet. I may start adding *one* carb meal a day, directly after my strength-training vs. the one cheat day on the weekend, but regardless how I do it, I know that eating lower carbs really makes a difference in how I feel. After my competition I couldn't stop eating sweets and carbs and almost felt addicted to it, and it's the only thing that reigns me back in and gets me back on track.

    I'm so looking forward to cheering you on as you WIN YOUR PRO-CARD! I have no doubt you'll do it! HUGS! :)

  4. I eat lean proteins and nuts for my fat source.

    Talia - it's all about finding what works for YOUR body. I can't wait for my body to finally start using fats as energy. LOL
