Boring? Or A Key to Success?

Through the past few years, I've gotten quite a few questions and comments about my diet. I've gotten adept at answering the questions politely and briefly, because really, most people don't really want to know the intricacies of my diet; they're just wondering why I won't join them for Happy Hour.

The most recent question I got was, "Same food for lunch today? Doesn't that seem boring to you?"

My reply was, "No, not really. It's just my lifestyle now; I don't really know any other way."

For the most part, that's true. NOT bringing my food to work would feel very strange to me. Going out to eat with co-workers every day would feel odd. Travelling without my cooler feels abnormal.

I love the lifestyle I chose, even though it's not always easy, and it's not always fun. Sure, I'd love to go out for pizza every day ... but then my tummy would be all upset and I'd have to buy a whole new (larger sized) wardrobe. So I choose to eat healthier foods and to look and feel better.

Like I've said before, I'm actually quite lazy and would rather eat the same foods every day than waste time making different kinds of food. But every once in awhile, it's nice to have something different.

I guess most people would call my diet boring. But I just look at it as something that will bring me one step closer to achieving my goal.

Do you like some variety in your diet, or is it "boring" like mine?

  1. I eat the same thing every day. BUT in my opinion, that is how I ensure I'm eating all foods that I like that fit into my diet! Dinner is the only meal I change up and I'm convinced that's only because I cook for more than just myself. :) If it were just me, it would be chicken every night.

  3. I'm definitely a boring diet kinda girl. When I have too many options, it takes me more than twice as long to actually make a meal. Knowing that I have the same few foods to eat every day is actually comforting to me. Right now I'm at my mom's house and I've actually raided her fridge (or more like her freezer) for foods that are prep-friendly. Too bad I have to thaw it all out!

    My mom actually thinks I'm kinda crazy--she keeps asking why I would want to "deprive" myself, but I don't look at it that way at all!

  4. I eat the same thing for lunch everyday! Not in prep, I may go out for lunch once a month or so- meet up with my hubby or a friend and that's usually Subway. Otherwise, I am a creature of habit and stick to what I know best! So I think boring is okay!!

  5. I eat a lot of the same meals as well and it doesn't bother me a bit. I know what works for me and I stick to it. I mix it up every few weeks just so I don't get too bored. I love your point about having a tummy ache and having to buy a larger wardrobe. It's true! It's tough missing out on the "fun" of eating out and drinking sometimes but the perks of being healthy and being able to fit into whatever we want is worth all the hard work and sacrifice :) If you can call it a sacrifice!

  6. I keep it simple and like sticking to my diet. It takes all the guess work out of "what do I eat next" or "what am I in the mood for?" I love not having to think about what my next meal is going to be. When I do have an actual craving for something I try to find or make the healthier version of it. Like last Friday night my hubby made me his clean homemade pizza and it hit the spot! Great post! XO

    and yup,i agree with everyone else,if eating the same meals is boring,then yeah,im crazy boring!i do have to be creative with dinners,just cause there are 3 kiddos and a hubs who arent as boring as i am,lol!

  8. i am glad to see im not the only boring one!!! I eat same thing everyday try to switch up veggies and dinner but mostly same things. its just easier and honestly its just food to me lol
