So Now What?

It's been a week since Team Universe ... I've had a lot of thoughts swirling through my head the past few days, so instead of writing them all out, I decided to make another video.

I had J join me to discuss our approach to the show - conditioning and presentation. I read a couple comments people made about my conditioning, presentation, and suit, so I wanted to address the reasoning behind the decisions we made, and our thoughts about how the show went.

I have to admit, I'm completely overwhelmed, flattered, and touched by all of the thoughtful, supportive comments I've received last week and this week. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support and belief in me. I was so worried I let you all down when I didn't do well at the show, but you've stood by me and reminded me that just because I didn't win a trophy doesn't mean I didn't win the journey.

I've made a lot of progress in the past few years. Here are the comparisons J and I talked about in the video: Jr Nationals 2009 and Team Universe 2011.

It's time for another productive off-season, or should I saw Operation Grow?!

  1. Hehe! I love how your kitty needed to join.
I absolutely agree with Jerry's assessment of the hope of figure vs. physique. There should be a definite distinction. And I'm right there with you Kari, I'm 4'11" and feel that I could easily look boxy as well and am interested to see how that plays out in the coming year or two.
Kari you are so encouraging and am stoked that you posted this. You've been on my mind and have been hoping that you've found encouragement in your own ability. :) Love ya girl!

  6. That took a lot of guts to get on video and explain what you did. Good job! It's not always easy is it? Hang in there and work on that back! I personally love back day...

  7. Hi Kari,

Sorry you did not do as well at Team Universe as you had hoped. I have not looked at pics of the winners and other competitors.....but the pics of you on your blog are amazing. You look awesome. I just wanted to share how much I have enjoyed your blog. You have really inspired and motivated me. I have just recently decided to compete in my second figure competition. Its been 3 years since the first. Needless to say I let myself get out of shape during those 3 years. Anyway - I am 11 weeks out from my show. Lots of work left to do......but reading through your old blogs has really inspired and motivated me. None of my friends are into fitness so its hard to find people who understand and relate. Your blog helps me connect with somebody else who understands. In fact...it has inspired me to start my own blog (fitnessRN)....still working on figuring out how to do the blog thing. LOL. Anyway...thanks for sharing your journey and I look forward to what you have planned next.

    Leslie
